Web Hosting

In order for visitors to be able to access your website anytime, day or night, it needs to be installed on a server (a purpose-built computer) which is connected to the Internet 24 hours a day.

There are many hosting packages available and you will find that prices vary considerably with the specifications (what you get for your money), availability (percentage of time that the website can be accessed) and level of support from the "host" provider.

We offer two hosting packages: standard and advanced. The main differences between the two are bandwidth and disk space allocation (which will need to be greater for larger or more complex sites e.g. e-Commerce or knowledge-based sites). For most small to medium sized businesses, who are not yet ready to venture into e-Commerce, the standard package is ideal. Both packages include:

  • 99.9% availability guaranteed
  • System administration managed by Box Design (including system monitoring, software patches, security releases etc.)
  • Industry strength firewall (to stop viruses, hack attempts and port scans)
  • Daily incremental backup and full weekly backup taken
  • Linux server with Apache web server, support for SSI CGI, PHP, Perl, Python
  • Full SCP and SFTP access available (no FTP as this represents a security risk)
  • Unlimited email aliases (which should come as standard for all hosting packages)
  • MySQL database server support
  • Superb performance with 18,000MBit connectivity to the server
  • Website statistics reports to track visitor trends
  • Initial 3 month contract (rolling basis thereafter)
  • Technical support by phone 8am - 8pm and online customer support network available 24/7

Standard Package

  • 100 MB web space
  • 1 GB total bandwidth per month (additional bandwidth usage will be charged per MB)
  • 5 x 20MB POP3 (email) accounts with spam filter (spam assassin)
  • £25 per month, payable quarterly in advance

Advanced Package

  • 350 MB web space
  • 5 GB total bandwidth per month (additional bandwidth usage will be charged per MB)
  • 20 x 50MB POP3 (email) accounts (email) with spam filter (spam assassin)
  • £50 per month, payable quarterly in advance
